Elks Awards Day - 2010

On May 3, a crowd estimated at 500 attended the Lincoln Elks Lodge #80 Youth Night held at Southeast Community College. On that night 26 seniors from area schools were honored with Scholarships, and 206 Junior Class members from area schools were presented Certificate of Excellence in 26 scholastic and extra-curricular activities.

The value of the scholarships range from $675 to $4,000. All of the scholarships are administered by the Lincoln Lodge #80 Charitable Fund Inc. This year 16 were given in the name of individuals and groups associated with the Lodge, and 10 were awarded by the Lodge. Past Exalted Rulers of the Lodge fund 9 scholarships in their name or in a loved one's name. For example, Wesley Durst PER and one of the founders of the Charitable Fund, provides 2 scholarships - one in his name and one for his late wife, Joanne - each worth $4,000 over 4 years. The Paulding and Esther Smith Memorial Youth Fund provides all the money for the Lodge scholarships and in additions subsidizes the Charitable Fund Awards.

Certificates of Recognition are awarded to juniors during this program. These awards are presented to students from each of the 14 Lincoln and surrounding area high schools in the following 17 categories:
